Review! Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover

At twenty-two years old, aspiring musician Sydney Blake has a great life: She’s in college, working a steady job, in love with her wonderful boyfriend, Hunter, and rooming with her good friend, Tori. But everything changes when she discovers Hunter cheating on her with Tori—and she is left trying to decide what to do next.

Sydney becomes captivated by her mysterious neighbor, Ridge Lawson. She can’t take her eyes off him or stop listening to the daily guitar playing he does out on his balcony. She can feel the harmony and vibrations in his music. And there’s something about Sydney that Ridge can’t ignore, either: He seems to have finally found his muse. When their inevitable encounter happens, they soon find themselves needing each other in more ways than one…

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Colleen Hoover, a passionate tale of friendship, betrayal, and romance—and the enchanting music that inspires one young woman to put her life back together.

From the author of the New York Times bestsellers Slammed, Point of Retreat, Hopeless, This Girl, and Losing Hope, Maybe Someday is destined to become another bestseller and long-lasting fan favorite.

MY THOUGHTS

Wow! That's our Colleen! She's amazing, as always! I simply love every single thing she writes!

Just when you think some things can't get any worse, she shows you that they can. And then you find yourself saying: "And now, there's no way out of this situation!"

Then, just when you've come to terms with the idea that things are bad and that's how they're going to stay, because there's certainly no way out and the angst is so dense that you could cut it with a knife and it practically rips your heart out, she somehow manages to twist it in a way that makes you slam your head to the desk and say "WOW! How did she even think of that?" And you hate the book and cry and then you're in awe and you love it and cry some more (I know there's a slight possibility that you won't understand a thing of what I'm babbling about).
Sometimes in life, we need a few bad days in order to keep the good ones in perspective.
Her characters are so meticulously created and so well developed, that you can't find them any flaw. Sometimes you wish that you could hold them responsible for the situations they are in, but you can't, even if they got there by their own fault. They all have around them this aura of perfection, but it's one created by struggles, by insecurities, by flaws, in a single word, I feel like this perfection is the sum of so many imperfections.
I just fell in love with his voice. With the out-of-focus picture he’s painting with his words. With . . . him.

I don't want to talk about the plot, because I can't even count how many reviews this novel has already, and I'm sure you'll find in them all the info you need about it. But the writing style? GOD! I couldn't put this book down! And I don't know why I'm so amazed, because I'd had this same feeling when I first read Slammed, and then again with Point of Retreat and Hopeless. It's just that Colleen's skills never stop amazing me! Without counting in the song lyrics, that are fantastic, just look at these quotes:
He’s holding me now as if I’m a part of him—a wounded extension of his heart—and he’s realizing just how much that extension needs to be severed.
I’m crying tears over the death of something that never even had the chance to live. The death of us.

All my friends and my old followers know that I've literally forced them to start reading Colleen's books (Does the force count if it was only applied until they reached the first page?) and they absolutely loved them all. For the newer ones, I can only say that these novels should occupy, in order, the first positions of your TBR list!

Happy reading!
